Online stores

Your store is selling, but it's stopped growing.

I help owner-run Canadian online stores that have stopped growing get their back end, their repeat customers and their numbers working again. I've run my own store since 2015, so I know where the time and the money leak.

The problem

Sales have flattened, and you're too busy running the store to work out why.

Stock gets out of step across channels, supplier and shipping work eats the week, and past customers hear nothing after their first order. If you sell specialty or regulated products, ad platforms and payment processors may also restrict you without warning. Most of the growth that's left is in the customers you already have and a back end that doesn't need you for every order.

Who it's for

A good fit

Owner-run Canadian online stores that are already selling and have stalled, on Shopify, BigCommerce or WooCommerce. Specialty, outdoor, hunting, fishing and regulated-category stores are welcome.

How it works

  1. 1

    Free call.

Book a 30-minute Discovery Call and walk me through the store. Cost: free.

  2. 2

    Store Audit ($1,500 fixed).

I set a baseline for sales and repeat rate, then review your catalogue and inventory, suppliers, shipping and tax, platform and payment risk, and your email and CASL consent records. You get a written 90-day plan. Half the fee comes off your first month of support if you sign within 30 days.

  3. 3

Store Systems Setup (from $3,500 fixed), then monthly support.

I fix what the audit found, such as the core repeat-customer emails (welcome, post-purchase, win-back and abandoned cart where your platform supports it), inventory, supplier and shipping workflows, a simple sales report and payment or platform risks. Then you pick a monthly plan:

    • Repeat Customers: $1,000/month. Two to four email campaigns a month, the automated emails kept tuned, list clean-up and re-permission before anyone's consent runs out. It's email only, with no text messages.
    • Store Operations Partner: $1,500/month. Everything in Repeat Customers plus a monthly operations review, a scorecard and help with suppliers, inventory and shipping.
    • Both plans run for three months to start, then month to month.
  • Add-on: CASL Consent Clean-up, $500 one-time. I tag your existing list by consent type and date and run a re-permission campaign (how consent tracking works).
  • Prices are in CAD, plus HST if applicable. Price clean-ups or a move to a new platform are quoted separately.

Case study: Civil Safety (my own store)

I've built this myself, so I know what it takes.

Since 2015 I've run Civil Safety, a Canadian store that has become one of the country's go-to sources for firearm accessories. It sells to federal, police and defence customers, and it ships to all 13 provinces and territories. When federal firearm rules changed, products we'd built the business on were taken off the market, sometimes overnight. I reworked the catalogue, the suppliers and the marketing to keep the store serving customers, which is the kind of problem I'm ready to help you work through. Civil Safety is owned and run by my company, so this is my own store and not a client result.

What it shows about the work I'd do for you

  • Customers found the store on their own. Over 93% of sales came from direct and search traffic between January 2022 and October 2026, so I know how to build demand that doesn't depend on Google or Meta approving your ads.
  • Repeat buyers matter. Repeat customers bring in 23.8% of revenue (August 2022 to October 2026), which is why bringing past buyers back is the first thing I set up for clients.
  • Customers buy real gear. The average order is about $200 over the same period, so customers are buying real gear, not impulse add-ons, and I know how to look after a customer base that buys with purpose.
  • The store keeps moving forward. 2026 sales passed all of 2025 by October and are already 12.1% higher, with a catalogue of 865 products from 119 brands.

The systems behind the store

A store this size only works if the routine jobs run themselves, so I built the back end to handle them and keep my time for customers and suppliers. I can set the same up for your business, which is the operations automation and technology integration work I offer clients.

  • Inventory that stays in step. A multi-channel inventory sync keeps Amazon and the storefront aligned automatically, so a sale in one place updates stock everywhere and oversells become rare.

  • Waitlists that capture demand. When a product sells out, customers can join a waitlist and get an automatic email when it's back, so interest isn't lost while stock is on the way.

  • Filtering that finds the right part. Detailed product filters let customers narrow a large catalogue by fit and specification, so they find the right part quickly instead of emailing to ask.

  • Images that load fast and look consistent. Product images are optimized automatically, which keeps pages quick and gives every listing the same clean look.

  • Books that keep themselves current. Sales flow into the accounting records automatically, so there's far less manual entry and the numbers are ready when I need them.

I've done the same kind of work in my leadership roles running operations teams, where I brought in technology and automation for staff scheduling, digital paperwork and documentation, and automated client communications. The tools change from one business to the next, but the approach stays the same: find the manual work that eats the week, automate it properly, and make sure the team actually uses it.

Whether you need your customers coming back or the routine work running itself so you can get your week back, book a 30-minute Discovery Call. I'll look at how your business runs today and tell you straight what I'd fix first.

FAQ

Do you work with firearm-accessory and other regulated stores?

Yes. I work with outdoor, hunting, fishing, tactical, knife and firearm-accessory stores, and your store stays responsible for its own legal obligations. See also High-risk and regulated businesses.

Why no text messages?

The email platform I build on doesn't allow firearms-related text messages, so I keep your program on email where it isn't at risk of being shut off.

Is this CASL-compliant?

It's built for CASL from the start. Every contact gets a consent type and date, implied consent is tracked until it expires, and every email carries your identification and an unsubscribe link. You stay responsible for how your list was collected, and I keep the records that show consent. The consent expiry page explains it in more detail.

Do I need to switch store platforms?

No. I connect the email platform to your existing Shopify, BigCommerce or WooCommerce store.

Who owns the list and the templates?

You do. Your customer data and email templates belong to you, and I hand them over in a format you can export at the end of our work together.

Can you guarantee results?

No, and anyone who does is guessing. I set a baseline during the Store Audit and report against it every month, so you can see for yourself whether it's working.

What does the 3-month minimum mean?

The monthly plans run at least three months because automated emails and campaigns need time to show results. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice to cancel.
